I'm a retired lady who is enjoying writing to help others. My husband and I have 4 children, 14 grandchildren (1 is in heaven), 7 great grandsons and 3 great granddaughters. We enjoy riding ATVs & camping, and spending time with family & friends. In the past I have been a church youth leader, cub scout and 4H leader, and studied under the Sitka Christian Counselor's Assoc. My first book "Father, Forgive My Father" was published in 2005, and you will see references to it throughout my blogs. Now I'm writing magazine articles & building my platform for my book. Currently I am enjoying being on talk radio interviews. I am also available to present my workshop "Becoming God's Woman" to church and women's groups. My greatest desire is to see people set free from the bondage of sexual child abuse and become healed and free children of God, ready to soar to new heights of victory and have life more abundantly. THIS is what God wants for His children. In the new year 2012, I intend to write more frequently on this blog, so visit us often.

HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE!

Isn't it wonderful to see all the signs of Spring popping out all over?  It is so encouraging after a long, very cold winter, and I for one am enjoying all the sights, sounds and smells of Spring.  Have been very busy lately, and THAT is a good thing....I think;-)  Not enough hours in the day, with spring planting, spring cleaning, and work that I have been doing on my book's platform.  Yes, I'm still out there doing everything I can.

Recently I was contacted by Monty Meyer of Take12Radio out of Albany, OR, to do a radio interview.  The broadcast aired last Saturday the 6th, and was a really pleasant experience.  Monty makes all of his guests feel very welcome and comfortable, and before I knew it, the hour was up.  I had thought I would not have enough to say, but as my Son, Scott, said, "Mom, you never run out of things to say."  Monty had a lot of good questions for me, as well as personal input with a wealth of knowledge, and made the whole interview experience very interesting.  Thanks again Monty for the opportunity, I really appreciate it.  For any of you who missed the interview and would like to listen to it or refer it to someone you know who needs to heal their scars from abuse, you can still find it.  Go to www.Take12Radio.com, and go to their ARCHIVES...and click on FRIDAY INTERVIEWS.  There you will find mine that was on Friday, April 5th, spotlighting my book "Father, Forgive My Father".

Now, my next step is to further shine the spotlight on this month of April which is "National Child Abuse Prevention Month".  In doing that, I have scheduled an Open House for a book reading at our local library.  For any of you in the Spokane area, please feel free to attend, and please bring a friend; especially if you know they have been abused and need help to heal.  See the notice below:

COME & MEET THE AUTHOR at an Open House @ the Airway Heights Library
ADDRESS:  1213 S. Lundstrom, Airway Heights, WA 99001
DATE:  April 25th, from 2-4 p.m.  "Epidemic of Sexual Child Abuse To Be Revealed"

Don't miss this timely and informative book reading and signing in recognition of April, "National Child Abuse Prevention Month"

You will also be able to meet the author of the book's Foreword, Dana Gamble.   We're looking forward to meeting you and hope you will join us and bring a friend.  This promises to be an interesting & informative time of sharing.  Coffee and cookies will be served.

                                                                    ###

In the meantime I have been really busy getting my brochures, business cards and bookmarks redone and reprinted.  My neighbor has offered to introduce me over at our airbase across the street, so I'm sure that is opening a huge door...lots of need in the military unfortunately.  Also have been in contact with people out of state who have asked to handle my books in their book stores, and have asked me to give book readings or my workshop.  I see a trip to Alaska in my near future to achieve these goals.  Of course I never mind that, because I can see my son and his family...which are most of my grandchildren and now my GREATS...8 of them up there;-)

So, that's how my Spring is going so far...not to mention the rose garden that I have scheduled for replanting...someday it will be pretty again.  Plans are to move to our summer ranch home May 15th, and then begins our summer gardening.  This year I've invited our Spokane Compass Club Gardening Group to visit for a tour of our garden and a patio lunch...they have assured me that it will be potluck, so I guess I will get lots of help with that.  Looking forward to a very exciting Spring and Summer.  God is moving, and moving fast...and I'm just along for the ride...to go where He directs.  Thank you for your love and prayers, and please be praying that He continues to open doors where this message is needed.  I also have a new personal URL web site for noting scheduled events and easy book purchase at www.fffpublishinghelps.com.  God is good...God bless you all.  Let me hear from you!

RADIO INTERVIEW WITH TAKE12RADIO

This will just be a short blog today to let you know of my radio interview tomorrow (taping tomorrow; actual broadcast goes live on Saturday).  I will be sharing with the listeners how to recognize the signs of abuse; then how to help victims of child abuse during and after the abuse, and how to lead them through the healing process.  I will also share why and how I got started writing my book and where you can find it at my book distributors.

To hear the broadcast go to www.talk12radio.com and click on Saturday (for the Friday interviews). Then look for my name, Sandra Lee interview April 5th.  Hope you will tune in.  If you miss it and want to watch it later, it will be there in the archives forever...so please pass on the information.  We need to do all we can to help these victims who are still waiting for their healing touch.

Have a wonderful day, and REMEMBER....

Happy Spring Time...April is "National Child Abuse Prevention Month"

Hello Everyone and Happy Spring!

I'm back!  The past few years have been so busy with my mother's care that I had to back out of a lot of my correspondence, especially on my websites.  She came to live with us over 2 years ago, and we were her sole caregivers in our home.  I certainly am thankful that we had that time with her, and am thankful that her passing was easy.  She was plagued with pneumonia all summer last year, and after being MedStar lifeflighted from our ranch, spent 3 stays in the hospital, and then went to a nursing home here in Spokane.  She seemed to rally for awhile, but could not shake the pneumonia, and she finally gave up after her 95th birthday on July 29th.  We had a little party for her there in the nursing home, and afterwards one of the nurses asked her, "Lois, since you've reached 95 now, are you going to shoot for 100?"  She said, "No, I don't think so, I'm kinda tired."  Then on August 26th, after saying goodbye to her children and Grandchildren on the phone, she slipped quietly away into the arms of our Lord.  I could not have wished for anything differently, because she had had a good, full life, and now she is pain free and flying with the angels.

Now, I am plunging in with both feet...and hands, and doing the work I know I'm intended to do.  My greatest desire, as you all know, is to see people set free from the bondage of abuse...whether it be immediate, or scars from past abuse.  The current statistics have only continued to rise through the past few years, and abuse of children in this country is an EPIDEMIC....it has to STOP!

To further that goal, I am very happy to report that I was recently contacted by Monty Dale Meyer of Talk12Radio Station out of Oregon, to do an interview tomorrow (Friday, April 5th).  This interview will be over Internet Radio and will be available on Saturday at www.Talk12Radio.com; then just click on SATURDAY for the Friday Interviews.  They archive these interviews, so they will be available forever for those of you who want to listen and refer on to your friends.  I would really appreciate that, too, as the whole purpose is to reach as many people as we can, in the hopes of reaching many victims of abuse who need healing.  PLEASE partner with me in passing this on; it is so important.  It is also so timely, since this is "National Child Abuse Prevention Month", and we need to do all we can to get the word out there.  Those victims are out there, and they are waiting for our help.

Thanks everyone for hanging in there with me and checking back.  Hope you all had a wonderful Easter and are enjoying Spring...I am!  Remember to listen in to the broadcast interview and let me know what you think...thanks again.

APRIL IS NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH

Since April is National Child Abuse Month, I wanted to remind all of you that we need to be doing everything possible to help the many victims of child abuse. Because of my background I am particularly concerned about the statistics of sexual child abuse that continue to grow in our
country...IT IS NOW AN EPIDEMIC!

When I wrote my book, "Father, Forgive My Father" the statistics were high, but lower than today. Now we can safely say that 1/2 of our population has experienced some kind of child abuse, and in the majority of these cases the child has been sexually abused. Many of our states across the country have tightened their child abuse laws, making the penalties much more harsh. This is as it should be...after all, the abuser has robbed this child of his/her innocence and altered the path of the victim's entire life. When we were in the Caribbean a few years ago, I did a little survey of some of the islanders we encountered. I asked them, "Do you have much sexual child abuse here?". Almost all of them said the same thing: "No, we don't have problem...if you touch the child, you do life in prison." No THREE STRIKES AND YOU'RE OUT...you're DONE after one abuse. If we had tougher laws like that, there would be no abuse, and our society wouldn't be sick and our prisons wouldn't be filled with victims of sexual abuse who went on to abuse others. In honor of National Child Abuse Month, I wanted to re-post a blog I posted on 2/26/07...please read on.

ADVICE TO VICTIMS OF SEXUAL CHILD ABUSE
When I was at a recent conference, on one of the breaks, I had a profound thought (one of my few, and it doesn't happen very often...so when it does, I think, "It must be God".) Well, the word ACT came to mind, and I started thinking of words that had significance to healing from
sexual abuse, and this is what I came up with. Break down the word ACT:"A" stands for "acknowledge" that you have been a victim of abuse, and are not at fault; "C" stands for "confront" your abuser or those responsible for your abuse. Some victims say, "I can't confront the abuser; he/she is dead. Well, YES you CAN, even if they are deceased. Just visually place them in a chair in front of you and go through the confrontation as if they were sitting there. Tell them how it made you
feel, how you suffered, and, even though you will NEVER forget the deed, you have FORGIVEN them...because that's what's important to your healing. If the abuser is still alive, you need to prayerfully seek God's timing in confronting he/she. You need to get it out, and they need to accept responsibility for what they did. The "T" stands for TALK ABOUT IT; healing begins with getting it out in the open and talking about it, whether it be to your friends, family, counselor or pastor, you NEED to talk about it. The more you do, the less painful it is, and you can then get past it and be healed. Praise our wonderful, understanding and healing God. Our God can do ALL things! And WE can do all things through Christ who strengthens us...AMEN!

In closing this blog, I would like to ask all of you to help, by educating yourselves to the many signs of child abuse.  My book has a whole section on how to recognize these signs, and what to do if you expect that someone has been abused.  This child needs your help, and will forever be grateful for your helping hand.  And, when it comes time for you to do something toward toughening our laws, please help by making your voice heard.  Let people know how you feel about those who rob children of their childhood and innocence.  This subject is no longer "taboo" in our society, and we need to come out of the dark ages and help the abused.  Please do your part by voicing your support of child abuse prevention.  Thanks for anything you can do.

and REMEMBER...

A Golden Opportunity...not to be missed!

I'm starting this blog way too late at night, and not sure how it's going to turn out, but just had some things on my mind. Tis the Season...to be jolly...but then LIFE gets in the way right when we're the busiest.  I'm sure you've felt that way, too.  Too many things to do, etc.  But then something unexpected happens to change our plans.

Mom & I at a Christmas Party in 2010
We have this new house (new to us) that we bought in 2007 for our later years of retirement.  Well, "hello"...here we are in our "later years of retirement"; where did all the time go?

Reposting and Important Blog

Good Morning everyone,

Just wanted to share a friend's blog that I think is important to all of us.  Thanks, LaJoyce for sharing your experiences and advice.  You have helped ALL of us.

Posted by LaJoyce on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 8:16am   Hello to all my followers! I was amazed at all the hits my last blog received and want to ask if it has helped you in your walk on this earth? My aim is to help those folks that are looking for a way that their lives will have peace. We all know peace comes through our belief in God, but sometimes we can have a hard time knowing how to accept it.

Yesterday at work I had an experience that jolted my peace. I watched the nurses calmly minister their craft to an individual that was loud, highly excited and full of expletives. This went on for hours before we could seek the proper attention that was needed. I admired those nurses for how they handled something that I felt I more than likely could not have handled very well. Probably handle, but not with confidence. I remember standing by the wall of windows watching this patient struggle with trying to control the situation. The scenario gave me thoughts of anger, hostility and a desire to go into the bed and spank this chronological mature individual! I wondered why I felt so uncomfortable when placed in this sudden environment. God spoke directly to me after I voiced how I felt to a christian nurse. I needed more healing in that area! That scenario I witnessed was a childhood common. It still lingered when I thought it was conquered.

Many times, something we were reared into, takes a lifetime of deliverance. We learn over a period of time how to handle ourselves by keeping ourselves safe in environments that shield us from those outbreaks, but  when they surface again, old feelings return.

We all don't like those feelings and seek for guidance, however going to God in prayer and asking Him to help was the answer. I couldn't go back and relive my childhood and make everyone do what I thought they should do to make my life better. The only way to return to a peaceful life is to forgive those that have hurt me. Mark 11:24,25. We hate those feelings, because when we feel like that we stay stuck in our life. We cannot move forward, harbor nasty feelings about everything and everybody who dares come against us. We look slantingly at all actions we view. Our lives are based on what we learned in our childhood. Everyone has something that has negatively affected them and is carried into their adulthood. Some folks handle their situations differently and we all strive to better ourselves. May I say that trusting in God is the only way to help ourselves. The more knowledge we have of His word to guide us will lead us forward, but perfection only comes the day we go home to be with Jesus. So to recognize this uncomfortable situation I faced, I thank God for His guidance to attain more trust in Him.

Thanks for listening. You are a blessed crowd of wonderful God fearing individuals that God loves more than you can ever fathom.

Move to the Eastside

Hi Everyone,

I know, I know...I've been really absent on here lately, but it's due to our HUGE move clear across the state so that we can be closer to the ranch.  We started packing in March & making trips across the state to transport "stuff", and finally made the big trek permanently on April 30th.  Since that time we've only had a couple of work days at the new place to put things in order...I need lots more time and sometimes wish I could clone myself:-)

Many of you probably do not know that my stepdad passed away in March, just a week and a half before his 102nd birthday.  He passed very quickly and quietly and his daughter and family got a chance to say their good byes and rub his legs just that morning.  So he could not have asked for a more peaceful passage to go to his heavenly Father.  He is there now, and we are taking care of his "bride", my Mom.  She moved with us of course, and is now enjoying living here at the ranch with us for the summer.  She watches each day for that illusive moose that never seems to appear for her to see, but we have seen many times just sauntering across our field below the house, or standing in our lakes.  We have placed a salt block now out in the field, so hopefully, she will see one soon.

After all the cool weather, we finally have sunshine today, after another nice rain, thunder and lightning last night.  We managed to plant our garden (part of it) a couple weeks ago, and now have corn, green beans and peas coming up.  I need to get out there and plant the rest, as Mom wants MORE pickled beets this summer.  Last year we had a "first year garden" and had a bumper crop of lettuce, carrots, radishes, onions, beets, peas and beans...and some cucumbers and zuchinni.  It has been so cool and rainy this spring that I couldn't get the rest of that planted yet.

This weekend our good friends (four couples) from Oregon have been here for their annual visit, fishing, atving, visiting, resting, reading, etc.  We all had a drive over to the new place yesterday and had our first company dinner at patio tables lined up in the dining room.  Was so much fun and is so good to see all our friends.  Some of them left this morning, but 2 couples are still down at the lake house and will bring US dinner tonight (they think I've been cooking enough).  This time of sharing with friends each year is a special time for us, and we look forward to it so much each year.   They even managed to catch some fish the other day and we had them for breakfast yesterday...YUM...fresh pan fried trout.  This is a picture of the ranch house on the lake as it appeared about a month ago when we still had snow and ice on the lake.  It's all gone now, and we have turtles and fish swimming around.  Still waiting for baby duckies, though...we keep watching.  Well, I'll post more pictures later after I get them downloaded, but for now, hope you're all having a wonderful Spring.

My Precious Daughter....Happy Birthday!

My Precious Daughter

Sometime ago I jotted this down...from where I don't know.  Although I posted this last year, too, I have saved it to send to my daughter once again on her birthday, which is April 1st.  It reminded me of times when I was watching
her grow, and of happier times later when I could just call her up and tell her these things.  I love and miss her more than this mother could ever express, so this is to Ali:

My Precious Daughter

The joy of my life was just watching you grow.
You were my little princess, all tied with a bow.
I'd read you the same book over & over again,
and listen to "God Blesses" till you finally said "Amen".

I'd watch you through a window as you'd run and play,
and I'd say a little prayer that you'd remember one day...
That you were loved so very much, and how I loved watching you grow
Into WHO you are today...someone all the world should know.

Author Unknown

We love you so much, and wish you a very Happy Birthday doing all the things you love to do.

Love always, Your Family

Keeper...

Our Bosco, Now 9 years old
My Parents now 93 and 101
Our Peachie about 15+ year
Keeper...............
I  grew up with practical parents. A mother, God love her, who washed aluminum foil after she cooked in it, then reused it. She was the original recycle queen, before they had a name for it... A father who was happier getting old shoes fixed than buying new ones.

Their marriage was good, their dreams focused. Their best friends lived barely a wave away..

I can see them now, Dad in trousers, tee shirt and a hat and Mom in a house dress, lawn mower in one hand, and dish-towel in the other. It was the time for fixing things.. A curtain rod, the kitchen radio, screen door, the oven door, the hem in a dress. Things we keep.

It was a way of life, and  sometimes it made me crazy.. All that re-fixing, eating, renewing, I wanted just once to be wasteful. Waste meant affluence. Throwing things away meant you knew there'd always be more.

But then my mother died, and on that clear summer's night, in the warmth of the hospital room, I was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't any more.

Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes away...never to return.. So... while we have it..... it's best we love it.... and care for it... and fix it when it's broken......... and heal it when it's sick.

This is true. for marriage....... and old cars..... and children with bad report cards..... and dogs with bad hips.... and aging parents..... and grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it.

Some things we keep. Like a
best friend that moved away or a classmate we grew up with.

There are just some things that make life important, like people we know who are special........ and so, we keep them close!

I received this from someone who thinks I am a 'keeper', so I've sent it to the people I think of in the same way... Now it's your turn to send this to those people that are "keepers" in your life.  Good friends are like stars.... You don't always see them, but you know they are always there.  Keep them close!

TEN THINGS GOD WON'T ASK ON THAT DAY.

1.... God won't ask what kind of car you drove. He'll ask how many people you drove who didn't have transportation..

2.... God won't ask the square footage of your house, He'll ask how many people you welcomed into your home.

3.... God won't
ask about the clothes you had in your closet, He'll ask how many you helped to clothe.

4.... God won't ask what your highest salary was. He'll ask if you compromised your character to obtain it.

5.... God won't ask what your job title was. He'll ask if you performed your job to the best of your ability.

6.... God won't ask how many friends you had. He'll ask how many people to whom you were a friend.

7.... God won't ask in what neighborhood you lived, He'll ask how you treated your neighbors.

8.... God won't ask about the color of your skin, He'll ask about the content of your character.

9.... God won't ask why it took you so long to seek Salvation. He'll lovingly take you to your mansion in heaven, and not to the gates of Hell.

10.... God won't have to ask how many people you forwarded this to, He already knows your decision.

I'm Learning To Trust Him More

Well, it's late tonight and I probably should be in bed instead of writing this, but just wanted to check in with you all.  This has been a tough last few weeks, and it seems that we have been over a few rough spots.

A few weeks ago my husband, Forrest, had a few tests to see how his ticker was doing, and it led us to the hospital for him to have an angiogram.  He came through it really well, although he was pretty bruised for about a week afterwards.  Thank the good Lord we went for the test, though, as we feel that we really dodged a huge bullet.  He has a 100% blockage that has calcified so much that they could not even put in a stent.  BUT, praise God, it took long enough to get it that way, that his body (controlled by the Lord, of course) was able to form it's own natural bi pass, which we hear happens sometimes.  Now they are trying to keep those 2 arteries open by increasing his cholesterol meds and us trying to be more careful with our diet.  Thank goodness we have been trying to eat healthier each year, or who knows what would have happened.  I'm so happy to say that he's feeling really well, and his doctor has not curtailed his activities, but wants him to remain very active.  We will recheck in 3 months.

He no more than got through his crisis when I went in for a few tests.  A chest x-ray showed a spot on my lung, which called for another test (a CT Scan) which confirmed a mass.  So, you know how one test calls for another, and another, so I had the next one which is a PET Scan at another hospital, and it has come back inconclusive; they don't know what it is, but say that it is "suspicious for a malignancy".  Gee, I'm thinking, "This is not fair...I never smoked, and I try to live so healthy."  And of course the human side of me was remembering feeding my xfather-in-law his last meal when he died of lung cancer.  So I was staying awake each night, thinking of all the worse case scenarios, and not getting much rest at all.  Thus, I should really be in bed now, but I will try to finish this quickly.

But, last weekend I had been invited to a Women's Conference, led by a "young woman" who used to be in our youth group when my kids were growing up.  She has since become an ordained minister, and was leading her first conference.  I took a friend with me, and we had a wonderful weekend of praise, worship, and fun with the other women.  They called me down for prayer the last evening, and actually called out the spirit of cancer and told it to be gone.  For the first time in many years I was slain in the spirit, and was drenched with the spirit of God over my whole body.  Since that time I have felt a "peace that passeth all understanding" that it talks about in the Bible, and I know that I know that I know that God holds me in the palm of His hand and will heal me.  Why do I know this?  Because I have been healed many times in my life of all kinds of things, and I know He is healing me as I speak.  In the past he has healed me of Celiac Disease as a child, scar tissue on my lungs, ciatic pain & tennis elbow.   I praise God for His healing of the past,  for renewing  my faith and for His promises that "By His stripes we WERE healed"...we only have to accept it and walk IN IT.  Therefore, I am not moved by what I see or feel (like the pain in my side), but only by the Word of God.  I accept your healing Lord, and I intend to walk in it.  Thank you Lord.

My doctor has scheduled a lung biopsy for me this coming Wednesday the 23rd, and no matter what is found, I feel a peace that He, the Great Physician, will be guiding the doctor's hand & taking care of me.  I thank God for this peace, and pray God will use this in a mighty way as a sign to unbelievers, that He is the great and mighty God He said He is.  Please pray with me, and that He will use this for His Kingdom.

Hope you all are doing well and watching anxiously for all those first signs of Spring.  This has been a hard, hard winter for a lot of you, and we wish you Spring Time and flowers, & birds to sing His praises.  God be with you all...I will keep you posted.

DUST IF YOU MUST

Hi Everyone, and a Happy 2011 New Year to you all!!  A friend just sent this to me in an email, and I thought it was an appropriate time to share it with you...especially since we are all trying to make those New Year's resolutions.  It is true...we can spend all our time dusting, and miss the important things we should or could be doing...like spending more time with our families.   Please read, enjoy, and take this to heart.

I used to spend at least 8 hours every weekend making sure
things were just perfect in case someone came over.
Finally I realized one day that no one came over; they were all
out living life and having fun!

NOW, when people visit, I don't bother making excuses for the
condition of my home.  They are more interested in hearing about
the things I've been doing in the time I used to spend cleaning.
If you haven't figured this out yet, please heed this advice:

Dust if you must ....
but would it be better
to paint a picture or write a letter,
bake some cookies or plant a seed,
ponder the difference 'tween want and need?

Dust if you must....
but there's not much time
with wine to drink and mountains to climb

music to hear and books to read,
friends to cherish and life to lead.
Dust if you must...
but the world's out there
with the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
a flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must...
but bear in mind,
old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go -- and go you must --
you, yourself, will just make more dust!

Share this with all the wonderful women in your life.  I  JUST DID.
It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life
you have lived.

LADIES!!! Remember...a  layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
A house becomes a home when you can write 'I love you' on the furniture.

Life is short.  Enjoy it!

We're So Thankful For What We Have

WE'RE SO THANKFUL FOR WHAT WE HAVE

This Thanksgiving Day was so enjoyable, spending it with family, and having our Mom with us.  Mom at 93 years of age has moved in with us recently, and we praise God that she is in fairly good health and can get around by herself with the aid of a walker.  She occupies 2 rooms of our home and has the use of our guest bathroom, and says she is very happy living here with us.  A lot of her own furniture and personal pictures and "things" moved here with her, so she has familiar treasures around her.

When Mom came to live with us, it is because living expenses in an assisted living facility had gotten so expensive (this is the case with many of our elderly). We know of quite a few people our ages who are now inviting their parents to live with them because of this reason.  As long as my Step Dad (age 101) was living with her, they were able to afford the unit, but since he went into a nursing home last winter, it has become increasingly hard on her financially.  So, we invited her to come live with us, knowing that it would enrich all of our lives...which it has.  Mom is enjoying our pets, too, just as she knew she would.  She's finally learned all their names, and that was a real accomplishments.  Try keeping 3 black cats straight when they all sort of look alike!  Then there's the grumpy old lady cat who we've had for over 10 years, given to us by my daughter who had had her for 3 years & didn't know how old she was when SHE got her.  So she (Peaches) is just trying to lay claim to her territory that she had long before the 3 black cats came along.  Mom knows them now as Mama Mitsy, Daddy Tommy, and "baby" Owey (who tops out at about 22 lbs.).  Then there's the dog Bosco, who is over 9 years old now.  He's quite a character and understands everything we say (especially when we don't want him to).  All of this has added much to Mom's life.

Mom has also taken up the piano again, and even with her bent finger, she can play pretty well.  Right now she is practicing some Christmas carols so she can accompany me on the flute over the holidays.  We may even invite some family and friends over as time allows.  We marvel at what she remembers of the piano, and she can play so many songs and even jazzes them up a bit.  She still plays from her mother's set of music books, and song books she has collected over the years.  Here is a picture of Mom playing her old piano (which is in our house now), and her captive audience of "baby" Owey.  They love to hear her play, and at first couldn't understand what she was doing...because they rarely hear ME on the piano.  So, we are thankful that Mom can still play the piano so well, and we all enjoy hearing her improve with each passing day.
Yes, we have so many things to be thankful for.  Our families who are scattered from Texas all the way to Alaska and includes 4 children, 14 grandchildren + 1 in heaven, 4 GREAT grandchildren, and ONE ON THE WAY that we just found out about and is due in July sometime.  We miss those members who haven't been around much, more than we can say, and hope that they are doing well this holiday season, too.  We are so thankful for those family members who include us in their lives...ALL are precious to us & we thank God for every one.  We continue to pray for our family, & that God will heal parts of our family and our nation.  Please join us in praying for our troops, our nation and our leaders, and that in these trying times that they will make the right and Godly decisions for our country.  We wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving, and hope you will have a wonderful holiday season.  God bless you all and keep you safe.

To All of You for Mother's Day

This is from a good friend of mine and I'd like to share it with you all for Mother's Day, because it meant so much to me and is so true.
I remember doing some of the same things she did too. Like try her Mother’s glasses on and I’d nearly be drunk from the blur! Then sit and listen as she gave me her own advice (many times listening to my Grandmother too). And now the years have flown and we have grown with children of our own. Little grandchildren run about us now. The glasses do fit our sight better, for as the old saying goes “Mother is always right”. It is just kind of sad that it took us so very long to understand all of it, so we could have let her know our total love and appreciation of her. (Nothing is worth severing a Mother/child relationship)
....
A New View....
.. ..
Tucked neatly inside my mother’s old jewelry box are the glasses she....
wore many years before her death.  When I was younger I used to try on....
those glasses, wishing to wear them but quickly laying them aside,....
escaping that cloudy, blurry world they created.   It was quite a....
wonder to me how she saw so clearly through those lenses, how she....
reached for them each morning when she awoke before going to the....
kitchen to make the morning coffee.  Mother’s view certainly was....
different back then, and as I sat across from her those many mornings,....
sharing that aromatic beverage, she expressed her thoughts in ways....
that caused me to chuckle inside, believing that she was so “behind....
the times,” yet daring not to disagree with her, realizing that if I....
did an all-out argument would surely ensue.  And so, I politely....
listened, vowing never to embrace her ideology, clinging instead to....
those younger generational viewpoints of the 1960s. And then, I would....
slide into those brightly colored bell-bottomed slacks, toss my long....
hair over my shoulder and give her a quick kiss on the cheek before....
leaving the house.....
.. ..
I was enjoying my freedom, driving that little Corvair down the long....
country road toward town, leaving the country and its values far....
behind, entering a world where I could do things my way, the modern....
way.  College had opened wide those doors of freedom, allowing me to....
learn and experience life in a way that would have caused Mother to....
sit with me a little longer at the kitchen table, extolling those....
virtues passed on by her mother, attempting to extend that influence....
to her daughter.....
.. ..
Marriage, work and family had its way of restricting much of that....
freedom many of us felt in the 1960s.  It was not long before it was I....
who was making that morning coffee, doing the laundry and shuffling....
the kids off to school.  And, not surprisingly, it was I who was....
seated across the table from those young people, watching them fidget....
a bit in their chairs before going off into their own, new world of....
ideas.....
.. ..
Likewise, it should not have come as a surprise to me this morning....
when I opened that old jewelry box and once again placed those old....
glasses over my eyes that something had changed.  Suddenly I was....
seeing more clearly through those old lenses, and as I sat there in....
wonderment, looking around at my world some forty years later, I....
realized that I had become my mother.  I had ever so gradually....
returned to the ways she had taught me, those ideas that once caused....
me to chuckle, the ones that seemed so distant, were now so very close....
to my heart.....

My Precious Daughter

Sometime ago I jotted this down...from where I don't know.  I have saved it to send to my
daughter on her birthday, which is April 1st.  It reminded me of times when I was watching
her grow, and of happier times when I could just call her up and tell her these things.  I love
and miss her more than this mother could ever express, so this is to Ali:

My Precious Daughter

The joy of my life was just watching you grow.
You were my little princess, all tied with a bow.
I'd read you the same book over & over again,
and listen to "God Blesses" till you finally said "Amen".

I'd watch you through a window as you'd run and play,
and I'd say a little prayer that you'd remember one day...
That you were loved so very much, and how I loved watching you grow
Into WHO you are today...someone all the world should know.

Authors Articulating with Jo-Anne Vandermeulen

Hi Everyone,

Just in case you missed the live radio interview last night, or didn't know about it, it was recorded and you can listen in to the broadcast at:  http://tobtr.com/s/936781   I met the interviewer on a blogspot site & at www.Shoutlife.com.   Jo-Anne Vandermeulen with "Authors Articulating" invited me as a fellow author to be interviewed on Blogtalk Radio out of BC Canada.  I'm always looking for more ways to get exposure for my book, so I gladly accepted.

Claire Reeves, I hope you will listen, too, because I referenced you and your book.  Thanks again for your wonderful promo for my back cover.  Dana, thanks again for your beautiful Foreword.

Now, as follow-up I am asking all of you during this next month to team with me in getting the word out.  April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and we all need to be doing everything we can for the many, many victims who are out there, waiting for help and rescue from their abuse.  Thanks for listening to the recorded interview, and thanks for any help you may be able to give.  Please tell people about the book, because everyone in our society knows someone who has been abused, or, sadly, have been abused themselves.   Forrest and I continue to pray for those victims and their families, so that they can be healed from the scars of abuse and go on to lead happy, productive lives.

Blessings abundant to all of you,
Sandy

The Worth of a Woman

The WORTH of a WOMAN... Friday, August 17, 2007 - 3:02 PM

To All The Amazing Women Out There!!

THE WORTH OF A WOMAN

One Flaw In Women (you will see what it is in the end)
Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss
can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you
to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.

They bring joy, hope and love.
They have the compassion and ideas.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have vital things to say and everything to give.

HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

Father, Forgive My Father called "Road Map to Reclaiming Your Life"

Did you know that child sexual abuse is an epidemic in our country, and that it is hurting all of our society? Since April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, I would like to let you know about my book written to help victims of sexual child abuse. It is entitled, "Father, Forgive My Father" and is the product of a life-long dream and goal to get it published. The book tells my story of how, as a victim of sexual child abuse for 15 years, I was able to get through it and ultimately heal from the wounds of abuse; how I let God "turned my scars to stars". Now, in my retirement years, I am trying to get it out to the multitudes of victims who need help.

Claire Reeves, Founder/Director of MASA (Mothers Against Sexual Abuse) wrote the Promo for the back book cover, and has called it a "road map to reclaiming your life". So far, reviews from all across the country are encouraging, and I am hearing reports such as "your book healed my whole family", or "your book saved my life". But we need to reach many, many more victims, because as I said, child sexual abuse is an epidemic in our country and it is hurting all of us. Our prisons today are full of victims who were never healed, so they went on to abuse others. With the statistics of child sexual abuse so staggering these days, almost everyone has either experienced abuse or knows someone who has. Please partner with me in letting your friends and loved ones know about this book that is helping so many. Put your thinking cap on, and think of those you know who might need your help. You can order it at the following web sites: www.authorhouse.com, www.barnesandnoble.com, www.amazon.com. I am also available for book readings and signings, and give a workshop entitled, "Becoming God's Woman/or Man".
Please feel free to let me know how I can help you to help other victims who still need healing.
